Dr. Eliška Nováková, who passed away in Prague in 2000, is considered by her colleagues to be one of the founders of the field of bioindicators or bioindication. She was a dedicated resarcher, teacher, colleague and friend. Eliška published 34 books, monographies and coursebooks, more than 130 original scientific papers and 90 papers in conference proceedings as well as 70 popular articles on bioindicators, game mangement, applied ecology and the effects of air pollution on the environment.
